Our customer, Bell Contracting, required drainage for their new homes site in Fiddington, where they are planning to develop over 500 plots.

JDP were able to provide 50 new-to-market AXEDO® Yard Gullies to the site with the guarantee of speed and ease of installation, along with a reduction in the cost of associated materials.

About the Project
Set within 26 acres of open space, Fiddington Fields is a development of 2, 3 & 4 bedroom homes, located just 2 miles from the medieval town of Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire. Alongside the new homes, the site is set to benefit from brand new play areas & sports pitches, allotments and a community centre.

The Axedo Yard Gully is a leader in sustainable drainage. Its base is constructed from 100% recycled polypropylene (PP), and even the removable odour trap incorporates 50% recycled PP. With nearly all components made from PP, the gully is fully recyclable, significantly contributing to a reduced carbon footprint. Furthermore, the PP material inherently resists dirt adhesion more effectively than concrete alternatives, leading to fewer maintenance requirements and an extended service life.

Designed for practical and rapid deployment, the Axedo Yard Gully is remarkably lightweight, with the 30-litre gully base weighing less than 10 kg. Integrated, moulded handles facilitate easy lifting and placement on-site. Its innovative PP rib structure eliminates the need for a concrete surround, allowing for straightforward backfill with either single-size or graded material, streamlining the installation process and reducing associated costs. Additionally, the gully grating fits directly onto the gully pot, eliminating the typical installation process of setting it on a course of bricks and benching it in, which is a great time-saver.

Once installed, the Axedo gully offers exceptional accessibility for both routine inspections and cleaning. Its design ensures that the interior is easily reachable, and the odour trap is equipped with a convenient handle for effortless removal, making maintenance tasks quick and uncomplicated. This user-centric design minimises downtime and operational effort.
- Robust Construction & Compatibility
The Axedo Yard Gully is built for durability and broad integration within existing systems. It is available with a robust, non-lockable, C250-rated cast iron gully grating, precisely manufactured to suit a 300mm gully top. The gully also features a 110mm spigot, enabling direct connection to ULTRA3 pipe systems. Adherence to the EN 17670-2 standard further confirms its high quality and reliable performance.
The DYKA Axedo Yard Gully establishes a new benchmark for modern drainage infrastructure, combining environmental responsibility with practical efficiency and robust design. While it does have a higher upfront cost, when compared to other yard gullies, it delivers guaranteed long-term savings over its lifetime. This is what convinced Bell Contracting to take a chance on the new-to-market product.
What was the Result?
JDP followed up initial deliveries to ensure the site team were happy with the product and found that they were particularly impressed with the quality and the speed of installation.
Since then, having installed all 50 AXEDO® Yard Gullies, they have also seen a significant reduction in the cost of associated materials.
